  • Stores well for a convenient meal-prep snack during the week.

Let’s make some strawberry mousse!

Ingredients

  • Thick yogurt: Choose full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamy texture, or thick coconut yogurt for a vegan option.
  • Freeze-dried strawberries: Fresh or frozen strawberries release too much liquid for this recipe unless you use a thickener like gelatin.
  • Maple syrup: Honey or agave are good substitutes.
  • Vanilla or strawberry protein powder (optional): Skip if using Greek yogurt since it’s already high in protein.
  • Vanilla extract
  • Topping ideas: coconut whipped cream, fresh strawberries, cacao nibs, or chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Food processor or high-speed blender
  • Jars or small bowls for serving
  • Spatula

Steps

  • Place the freeze-dried strawberries in the food processor and pulse for 1–2 minutes until they become a fine powder.
  • Add the yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and protein powder if using. Blend another 1–2 minutes until very smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • If you used protein powder and the mixture seems too thick, add 1 tablespoon of milk and blend again; add up to 1–2 tablespoons total until you reach a thick but smooth consistency.
  • Spoon the mousse into jars or bowls and top with coconut whipped cream or your preferred toppings. Chill in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours before serving.

Topping ideas / How to serve strawberry mousse

  • Serve in pretty jars or small glass cups for an attractive presentation.
  • Coconut whipped cream is a favorite for a light, dairy-free topping.
  • Sprinkle cacao nibs or chocolate chips for crunch and contrast.
  • Garnish with fresh strawberry slices for extra color and freshness.

FAQs

  • Can this mousse be made vegan? Yes. Use a thick vegan yogurt such as coconut yogurt for best texture.
  • Can you make it ahead of time? Absolutely. Prepare the mousse, store it in an airtight container, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • How long does leftover mousse keep? Store in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days for best quality.

Ingredients

Mousse

  • 1 cup Thick yogurt *Greek or coconut yogurt
  • 1 package freeze-dried strawberries
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla or strawberry protein (optional) *see notes
  • 1-2 tbsp milk, as needed (omit if not using protein)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Topping ideas

  • Coconut whipped cream
  • Cacao nibs
  • Chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Process the freeze-dried strawberries in a food processor until they are a fine powder.
  • Add the yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla, and protein powder if using. Blend until smooth. If using protein powder, add 1 tablespoon milk and increase by another tablespoon if needed to reach a thick but smooth consistency.
  • Spoon into jars and top with coconut whipped cream or other toppings.
  • Refrigerate for 2–3 hours to chill and set. Enjoy!

Notes

*Protein powder is optional. If you use Greek yogurt, the mousse will already be high in protein and you can skip it. With coconut yogurt, 1/2 scoop of protein can boost texture and nutrition.

**Add milk sparingly when using protein powder. Start with 1 tablespoon and blend, then add another tablespoon only if the mixture is too thick. Aim for a thick, smooth mousse.
