This week on Desert Island Dishes our guest is Rachel Ama.
Rachel Ama has become one of the most exciting voices in London’s vegan food scene. After adopting a vegan lifestyle seven years ago she began sharing simple, flavour-packed recipes on YouTube, demonstrating how accessible and satisfying plant-based cooking can be. Her vibrant, colourful approach to food has won her a large and loyal following.
Her career has gathered notable recognition: she won the Observer Food Monthly Rising Star award in 2019, has presented the BBC Radio 4 Food Programme, and has recently published her second cookbook. Rachel’s food reflects her North London upbringing and is deeply influenced by her Caribbean and African heritage. She has a talent for reworking classic dishes into inventive vegan versions with a strong emphasis on bold, satisfying flavours.
Known for her infectious enthusiasm, Rachel inspires others through cooking, movement and a genuine passion for vegan living. Her new book, One Pot: Three Ways, is available now and showcases her ability to create uncomplicated, delicious meals that celebrate flavour and simplicity.
