Sweet and spicy is one of my favorite flavor combinations, and this Sweet Heat Chicken quickly became an addiction. The marinade blends hot sauce with brown sugar, Worcestershire, garlic, vinegar and olive oil, producing a bold, well-balanced flavor that leans more sweet than scorching.
The base of the marinade is the hot sauce, but the brown sugar tones down the heat so the result is bright, tangy and pleasantly sweet rather than overwhelmingly spicy. We enjoyed the chicken hot as a main course for lunch and loved the leftovers wrapped for dinner—simple and delicious.
I used Frank’s Hot Sauce in the recipe, but any preferred hot sauce will work. If you like more heat, choose a spicier sauce or add a pinch of cayenne.
