Rolo Pretzel Pecan Bites Recipe — Sweet Salty Candy Treat

We’re back with another simple entry in the “25 Bakes of Christmas” series. These Easy Rolo Pretzel Pecan Bites are a small twist on my Easy Pretzel M&M Hugs, and they’re just as addictive. The balance of sweet and salty makes them impossible to stop eating—this version might even be my favorite. My kids still prefer the M&M version, so you’ll have to decide which you like best.

How to Make Rolo Pretzel Pecan Bites

These tiny treats take just a few minutes to assemble and deliver a big payoff. With only three ingredients, they’re ideal for quick holiday snacks, classroom parties, or a last-minute hostess gift. Below are some tips to help you get perfect bites every time.

If you’d rather make the Hugs/M&M version, that recipe follows a similar method and yields equally delicious results.

Unwrap Everything First

Unwrapping the Rolos is the most time-consuming part of this recipe, so start there. It’s a great job for kids to help with and gets the prep moving quickly. Once the Rolos are unwrapped, assembly goes very fast.

Which Pretzels Work Best?

Square pretzels are what I used, but round or festive-shaped pretzels (stars, seasonal shapes) will work similarly if you can find them. Thin pretzel rods won’t provide a stable base, and traditional twisted pretzels can be more finicky, but all are usable depending on the look you want. Arrange the pretzels on a parchment-lined baking sheet and top each with an unwrapped Rolo.

Baking Time and Temperature

Bake at 200°F (about 95°C) for a gentle melt. You want the Rolos to become glossy and soft, not fully liquefied. Check them around the three-minute mark and expect 5–7 minutes total depending on your oven. Pull them as soon as the chocolate looks shiny—if you wait too long the chocolate can puddle and lose its shape.

How to Store Rolo Pretzel Pecan Bites

After you press a pecan half onto each melted Rolo, chill the tray in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes to set the chocolate. Store the finished bites in an airtight container at room temperature for short-term enjoyment, or refrigerate/freezer-store for longer keeping. I like keeping a sealed bag in the freezer and bringing a few out to thaw as needed—fresh and convenient for snacking.

Should I Add Pecans Before or After Baking?

Press the pecans on after the Rolos have softened in the oven. The oven temperature is low and won’t roast the pecans, and adding them after ensures they sit nicely in the warm chocolate and stay intact.

These bites make excellent little gifts—package a handful in a small bag with a bow for neighbors or hosts. They’re bite-sized, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for sharing (or hiding from your family—no judgment).
